Ipanema Beach

To get to the Favela Vidigal, I had to walk nearly the entire length of Ipanema Beach. Don't worry. Great exercise and I loved the walk. The weather might have been a bit kinder, but you can't have it all. Off to the left you see a solitary building below the mountains, right by the water. That's the Sheraton. I needed to walk past it. The favela is visible on the hillside above.

Someone sure had fun, weather be damned, and the skills to really take advantage of a nice empty beach

Yup, a bootcamp set up. You can hardly think of a better place than this - except for the little beach in Botafogo maybe.

Getting closer with still a long way to go

Small clusters of hotel guests were out and the sun just started to make intermittent appearances.

Turning the corner and about to start heading uphill toward the Sheraton and Vidigal

The temperature. Not too bad and I was already acclimatised
In love and oblivious to the world around them

Appreciating the way I had come.

Here I was, only a short distance to go

Looking back from the Sheraton on the way back to Ipanema. This was the best view yet (and a very long way to go back to the Metro station).
